Since 2001, there has been international momentum to streamline and improve the care of athletes with concussions. This talk will summarize where we are today, using the current recommendations regarding concussions from the 6th International Conference on Concussion in Sport, to aid in the recognition, evaluation, management, and safe return to sport.
Speaker bio: Dr. Ramon Ylanan has over 15 years of sports medicine and SEC team physician experience. He serves as the head primary care sports medicine physician for the University of Arkansas Razorbacks and previously as team physician for the University of South Carolina Gamecocks. He is the Fellowship Program Director for the UAMS Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship. Dr. Ylanan completed his undergraduate education at the University of Virginia and obtained his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine. He completed his residency with the Family
and Community Medicine Residency at the University of Missouri-Columbia, and his sports medicine fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama, under the tutelage of Dr. James Andrews, Dr. Lyle Cain, Dr. Jeff Dugas, and Dr. Tracy Ray.
